About

Stargazer was started as an entry for the GMTK 2022 Game Jam with the theme "Roll of the Dice".

Explore, read about, and gamble on stars to find life in the universe through text-based input. Don't get too comfortable, though. Every time you enter a command, it'll take some time to execute. How much? Well, that depends on your luck.

How to Play:

First decide on how long you wish to search for. Once your decision is made, it can't be changed. The clock begins to count down each time you enter a valid command based on what you rolled.

As you gather information on your search, you'll be able to get a quick glance at a star's characteristics, however, they may not be 100% accurate. On your search, it'll be useful to note down the stars you're particularity interested. Careful, though. You only have three slots in your notebook, so use them wisely.

Commands:

nav [coord]................Navigate to the given area
peek................Get the stars in the current area
note [star]..............Add info about star to notes
ping [?]..........................................???
help...................Print a list of valid commands
end...................................End your search

Excellent visual style, the game really feels like some kind of mystery. But I could not solve it. I just didn’t understand at all how points are awarded at the end. And I don’t think you need to add buttons to the game, the console input is atmospheric. Also I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what ping is doing and didn’t figure it out.

Hello there and congrats on your game! You're welcome to showcase your game to more people at our server : https://discord.gg/gZ7yEDSq

Regarding your game, i really enjoyed the aestethic, song/sound effects! The game is maybe too smart for me lol. So I missed having a little bit more context, background and instruction. Perhaps adding buttons for the functions, instead of typing commands would be a good thing too!

But good job and keep the good work! You seem to have a good idea there!

Don't forget to play other games on the Jam and to help them out with feedback as well!
